SHAPESHIFTER

April 25, 2006

Here’s the explanation about this ROCKIT! Built by SHAPESHIFTER aka Alan Sidlo

It’s a 6 ply maple rocker, with rolled down edges. there is a 3/16″ foam micro-core which is recessed for impact resistance and sandwiched within a clam shell of 3 plies on top and 3 below - thought it would give it the thicknes of a 9 ply in the center and the stiffness of a 7 or 8 ply without all that extra weight…. instead it feels more like a very flexy 5 ply with the strength of a seven. there’s a generous kick, nose fit for hang’n and with the 22″ wheel base, it has a stiff yet snappy feel which is totally enhanced by its lightness… this board was made for slashing! powered by the 40″ X 9″ roarockit pin tail kit. i like to call it the “one like no other”.

He has just begun to use our TAP kit to make decks. Here is his first ride using the Roarockit build.

FIRST RIDE

This testimonial says it all:

“Anyone with the smallest amount of woodworking knowledge should give the skateboard kit a go, i’m making better decks than ever since i did, it really is the best money i’ve spent this year.”

Future Of Deckmaking

April 8, 2006

Here are the pictures from this weeks city of Temecula Longboard build.

To say the least when the pictures came in last evening both Norah and I were totally blown away. What a great aloha Friday gift!

Thanks to John Flohr and all who helped on this build. You deserve a medal.

Here are a couple charts that show different information about vacuum. One shows the difference between what a vacuum cleaner can pull, an electric vacuum pump and a manual hand pump. The other is a conversion chart for HG to pounds.

Have a look at the wake board that James Cookson made using our Thin Air Press system. James lives in Thailand. This is almost half way around the world from us here in Toronto. The deck looks great.

Temecula Build 2006

April 1, 2006

Temeculs Class with teacher John Flohr on left and artist Dave Bowley on right. These kids built their street decks from scratch in this class. Gluing, Laminating, sanding and painting all on their own. Classes were put on by the city of Temecula, California. There is going to be a longboard building class starting on Monday.

This is the second set of classes that Temecula have done. John Flohr and the city of Temecula have really worked hard to get these classes running.
