April 23, 2006

What can I say. This guy makes great boards! If you are in the UK or anywhere in fact and want a SWEET custom build, look no further, Munchh is the man.

He has just begun to use our TAP kit to make decks. Here is his first ride using the Roarockit build.

FIRST RIDE

This testimonial says it all:

“Anyone with the smallest amount of woodworking knowledge should give the skateboard kit a go, i’m making better decks than ever since i did, it really is the best money i’ve spent this year.”

New Products

March 27, 2006

We have a couple of new products coming online that some of you may be interested in.

Above is a Mini TAP kit for teachers wanting to do in-class projects without the expense of buying a large electric vacuum system. The kit is sold as a 6 or 12 pack of 12.75″ x 13″ TAP bags with 2 pumps, a 12′ length of breather mesh and a 50′ roll of sealing tape. The kits are designed for repeated use and are great for cost conscious material budgets due to the small format of the TAP bags.

joewoodworker.com Trashes TAP

January 29, 2006

I am not against websites or magazines posting reviews as long as they have an objective and unbiased opinion. JoeWoodworker.com is a commercial site that sells vacuum veneering products and is in direct competition with our patent-pending Thin Air Press system.

For over a year now, Joe Gorelski (Joe Woodworker himself) has posted a review about our Thin Air Press kit. Recently he added one individual’s response, which also happened to share his negative viewpoint.

As the manufacturer of an innovative product that simplifies, demystifies and makes the process of vacuum veneering affordable for woodworkers I am disappointed at Joe Woodworker. There is room for everyone in the industry and I see no need to write misleading statements about a competitor’s product. C’mon Joe! it doesn’t take 400 pumps to evacuate the air from one of our TAP bags.

I am posting this because there is no access to a forum or blog area on the Joewoodworker.com site where unbiased responses to Joe’s personal review or his selected postings can be aired without editorial control.

Feel free to post, good or bad, your comments about our kit here.

There are many quality publications and online websites that have done unbiased reviews about our product. These include:

American Woodworker February 2006
Women for Woodworking March 2006
Fine Woodworking Magazine August 2005
Woodcraft Magazine January 2006, January 2005

Roarockit at Lee Valley Booth

November 21, 2005

Lee Valley Tools invited us to show off our Thin Air Press system at this past weekend’s Toronto Woodworking Show. The event was highly successful for us mostly due to the Lee Valley staff. They set us up in the booth’s prime spot and let us talk, not only about our Thin Air Press kits but also about deckmaking and teaching skateboard making. Norah, Mark and I talked with hundreds, if not thousands of people about vacuum veneering and how easy it is to get into it. We attracted a lot of attention with my sculpture of 8 longboard kits made to look like a flower.
Thanks Lee Valley Tools for this great opportunity to show off our stuff!
